FC Barcelona have reached agreements with English goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck and Polish striker Ewa Pajor, with both set to join the Culers on multi-year contracts.
Ellie Roebuck was Manchester City's number one goalkeeper for years, with Ewa Pajor one of the most in-form players, leading the goalscoring charts in the Bundesliga. Both are incredibly talented additions to an already-outstanding Barcelona side, and are sure to thrive surrounded by the almost-unbeatable Culers.
Ellie Roebuck has signed a two-year deal through to June 2026.
Roebuck made 131 appearances for Manchester City as well as 11 international caps for England, and was part of England's Euro 2022-winning squad.
Ellie Roebuck was pushed out of the spot as Manchester City's starting goalkeeper by young talent Khiara Keating this season, as she suffered a left occipital infarct, a small stroke, and needed time to recover.
Barcelona signed 24-year-old Roebuck on a free transfer following the expiration of her contract at Manchester City.
Roebuck spent nine years at WSL side Manchester City, where she progressed through their youth academy set-up before breaking into the senior squad.
She leaves City having won the 2016 Women's Super League title, three FA Cups and three League Cups with the Blues.
At just 24, Roebuck already has more experience than most top women's goalkeepers, and will no doubt shine now she has been given the chance to prove herself at Barcelona.
Ewa Pajor has signed a three-year deal through to June 2027.
Pajor was the Frauen Bundesliga top goal scorer last season, scoring 18 goals in 19 games. This was the second time that she achieved this feat.
The season before, she was the top goal scorer in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
During her time at Wolfsburg, Pajor scored 136 goals in 196 games.
The 27-year-old has followed in the footsteps of Polish compatriot Robert Lewandowski by signing a three year deal for FC Barcelona. In doing so, she has become the first Polish woman to play for Barcelona. She is her country's captain and all-time record goalscorer.
During her time at Wolfsburg, Pajor played in four Champions League finals, but she has never won it. She has however helped Wolfsburg to five Bundesliga titles, in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.
Pajor will be hoping to break the chain of reaching the Champions League final but losing on all four occasions, as she makes the move to the back-to-back Champions League winners.
Barcelona reportedly had to trigger Pajor's €500,000 release clause to sign her from Wolfsburg as they weren't ready to negotiate her sale. If this figure is correct, this would make her the most expensive sale in Frauen Bundesliga history.
FC Barcelona ended the Spanish league season unbeaten with 28 wins and 2 draws from their 30 games. Last month they retained the UEFA Women's Champions League, beating Lyon 2-0 in the final.
The Catalans also won the Copa de la Reina and Spanish Supercup. Out of all 48 matches this season, they only lost 1 game.
Barcelona are known as one of, if not the best women's club in the world. With a squad already capable of winning every honour, as they have proven this season, the addition of Roebuck and Pajor will further add to their phenomenal roster.
