ENGLAND LOOK TO SECURE A TROPHY!

England kicked off their international campaign this summer with a 3-0 friendly win over Bosnia and Herzegovina at St James Park, which saw Cole Palmer score his first England goal and with Trent Alexander Arnold and Harry Kane also slotting home. Gareth Southgate's side are looking to clinch their first international trophy since 1966 and hopefully stamp their names in English history.

Many fans look at the England squad and are quite pleased with the selections with players such as Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze, Jarrad Branthwaite and Kobbie Mainoo all being rewarded for their excellent contributions in club football.

However, despite this young and revitalised squad, their are noticeable players missing such as Marcus Rashford, Kalvin Phillips and Jordan Henderson all of whom have not performed to their usual levels for their clubs and will miss the journey to Germany as the squad hope to clinch silverware.

For all Englishmen, the last EUROS, which was largely played on English soil, is a bitter memory, as the Three Lions made the final at Wembley but missed out on penalties which in the end cemented dark horses Italy as European champions.

Since then, Gareth Southgate's side haven't been able to replicate such success in the World Cup, in which England were knocked out by eventual runners-up France in the quarter finals.

For many fans, this is a chance to finally show why England is the most expensively assembled squad in the European competition and that they can actually get over the line and 'bring football home'.

In fact, Gareth Southgate has been under immense pressure in recent years with the home fans demanding some type of silverware or the English manager should be sacked. It certainly seems unlikely that he would stay beyond the Euros unless he were to win it, with Southgate's contract up at the end of 2024.

However, it is not that easy considering some of the experienced and incredible teams that have qualified for this year's competition, such as: France, Portugal, Spain, all of which have won an international trophy in recent years. England will have to beat the best who have all been there and done it before.
