The Brazilian star has scored five and assisted once so far this season, fully cementing his place as a fan favourite.
So far this season, Paqueta has played a more defensive role in David Moyes’ side and has allowed James Ward-Prowse to attack more, but with this it hasn’t stopped the midfielders' attacking attributes from shining through.
The West Ham midfielder nearly left the club in the summer as the current champions, Manchester City, were wanting the player, but due to a last minute change the Hammer’s kept their man. There is a chance Pep Guardiola’s side try to buy him again at the end of the season but West Ham are trying their hardest to offer him a new contract to stay at the club for the foreseeable future.
Most of his crucial goals have come in Europe where he helped his club beat, top seed, Freiburg with an early header and a late goal at home to Olympiacos to get the 3 points. He also scored in the away defeat to the Greek side.
If there was one area that the Brazilian could improve on, it is his foul rate, he has already received a ban after receiving 5 yellow cards in 10 games. It is a stat that midfielders are used to seeing but he has picked up too many yellow cards in his career through scenarios where he hasn’t had to make a foul at all. With the way he can change games you want him to be fit to play every game possible.
Since the day he signed for the Hammers, he has scored ten and assisted eight, whilst also getting a crucial assist in the Europa Conference League Final to help them bring the trophy back to East London.
How many more goals and assists can the Brazilian get this season and will he still be with the Hammers next season?
