It’s not the World Cup trophy she was aiming for, but the Lioness number 1 has taken home a trophy from the tournament for her excellent display.
Throughout the tournament Earps kept 3 clean sheets. These came in the games against Haiti, Denmark and Nigeria. She also helped the Lionesses get through to the quarter-final by helping them to win a penalty shootout against Nigeria.
She also only conceded 4 goals throughout her 7 games.
Ever since Sarina Weigman came into charge, she has always made it clear Earps will be her number 1 going forward, and she has never let her down. For this tournament Weigman also promoted her to Vice Captain.
Throughout the tournament the Lionesses were getting used to their new formation (3-5-2) which caused some defensive issues and without their goalkeeper they may have not reached the final.
Earps had won this award last season with Manchester United after keeping 14 clean sheets through the WSL season and help take them to their first FA Cup final.
Earlier this year the English goalkeeper won the FIFA Best Goalkeeper award and she showed yet again this tournament why she was a worthy winner of that individual award too.
Mary Earps had a fantastic tournament from the 90 minute save with her left foot in their first game against Haiti to her penalty save in the final against Spain. She has definitely been the Lionesses player of the tournament and can go on to win many more trophies.
