Brentford's Cameroonian forward grabs the headlines after a wonderful performance verses Burnley last weekend. The attacker grabbed an assist and a goal to record Brentford's first home win all season which highlights his significance to the team. Mbuemo has managed to be a key performer all season but how has he maintained this consistency to grow as one of Brentford's most important assets?
Bryan Mbuemo joined Brentford from French club ES Troyes AC back in 2019 and took no time at all to state his claim as a regular starter. Mbuemo who was 19 at the time has now grown into a mature player and leader over the past few years and was pivotal in Brentford's playoff run to win promotion to the Premier League. Mbuemo now 24 has scored five goals in nine matches this season and in what has been a fairly mediocre start for the Bees he looks like the player who will lift the side up the table into a more competitive position. The weekend was one to remember not only for Mbuemo but for the whole Brentford squad. There was elements of redemption and with a sprinkle of Mbeumo magic, the Gtech rose to congratulate the red and white army on what was a must win game.
Mbuemo was responsible for creating a number of chances, providing the Burnley defence with all sorts of problems. The game marked Thomas Franks fifth year in charge of the club and signing Bryan Mbuemo has to be up there as one of his best decisions yet. Mbuemo demonstrated fantastic levels of creative attacking ability to pick up his rightfully earned Man of the Match award with his highlight of the game being the magnificent goal he scored, curling the ball straight into the top corner in the most composed fashion. Frank will be hoping this performance can revive some energy back into his side who face a tricky away day to Chelsea next. However, if any man would be able to step up to the plate and deliver it would be Bryan Mbuemo who scored last season at the bridge to earn Brentford a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Mbuemo can ignite the flame into a game, create the spark his team needs with moments of individual brilliance and after last weekend's performance he deserves all the recognition and headlines.
Mbuemo is the 7th top goal scorer in the Premier League so far this season on five goals and is joint with the likes of Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins. This is impressive for a player who is naturally a winger but has had to adapt to many positions tactically this season to cover for the absence of Ivan Toney. With still a long way to go in the campaign, Mbuemo is on form to add to this tally and reach double digits. If you're a fan of Fantasy Premier League I'm sure you're aware he scored 14 points this weekend, so those that dropped him from their teams must be kicking themselves. Mbuemo is now Premier League proven, his pace and directness combined with his wand of a left food can have a devastating impact on opposition, if the forward is able to kick on this season the Bees will benefit massively.
Thomas Frank managed to get Mbuemo, Maupay and Wissa working swiftly in transition, and this benefited Mbeumo's game a lot. He was awarded and found heeps of space and in this environment, Mbuemo thrives. If the level of performance against Burnley continues, it's clear to see Mbuemo adding to his goal involvements and getting the Bees fans on their feet and signing.
Right now, Mbeumo is Brentford's man in form and with a contract ending in 2026 the Bees will do everything to keep a hold of him for the talented player he is. With a win under their belt and a good record against Chelsea, the Bees will back themselves in this London derby to pick up another three points and move further up the table. Brentford won 2-0 last season and 4-1 the season before that, so they are no strangers to winning at the bridge. If Brentford win again over the blues this will do them a world of good and bring a new level of confidence to the side. Of course, if they do want to win they may require some more Mbeumo magic to get them across the line, so all eyes are on the Brentford forward to see if he can reciprocate last week's performance.
