Oxford City First Team Manager Ross Jenkins has departed the club after over two years in charge to take on the head coach role at Boreham Wood.
Alongside City, Boreham Wood were also relegated from the National League this season after a 21st-placed finish.
52 points from 46 games was narrowly shy of securing them safety, with York City sitting just above them on 53 points, and Ebbsfleet United sitting safely in 19th with 54.
Despite both teams being relegated, Jenkins will not return to Court Place Farm next season to face off against his former side.
Even though both are located in the South of England, it is only Boreham Wood that have been placed in the South division for the 2024/25 season. Oxford City, under new management, will play in the National League North.
In the 2022/23 campaign, a strong 3rd-place finish demonstrated Jenkins’ impact on the side, with a total of 78 points across the season.
Jenkins will forever be a name remembered fondly in City’s history after he guided the club to their first-ever promotion to the Vanarama National League, following this 3rd-place finish, bouncing back from their loss in the semi-finals of the playoffs the previous season.
He told Oxford City, “We can all be proud of what we’ve achieved over the last two years and I wish the club the very best moving forward”.
Another loss for the Hoops is goalkeeper Marcin Brzozowski who, following the expiration of his contract, has joined Farnham Town.
This news came after Farnham goalkeeper Pat Nash completed his transfer to Aldershot Town after 14 months at the club.
Nash played a huge part in Farnham’s success in the last campaign, having remained unbeaten all season in the Combined Counties Premier Division South, and having been promoted to Step 4 for the first time in the club’s history.
Brzozowski, therefore, has big boots to fill upon his transfer, after his short stint at Oxford City. The Polishman made his debut against Barnet on the 28th of October 2023, a game in which two first-half goals saw City suffer a 2-0 defeat. In total, he made 6 league appearances for the Hoops’ in the 2023/24 campaign.
Both Brzozowski and Jenkins are huge losses for the Hoops, but there is no doubt that the squad will continue to push on next season as they look to regain their National League status.
The club is now in recruitment for a new First Team Manager ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, with a process that runs into early June.
Owner Justin Merritt told Oxford City, “The calibre of potential interest has been strong and we will now go through a thorough process to ensure we get the right person to make progress in everything we do”.
