Sam Kerr wins the London Football Award’s player of the year.

The Chelsea star has won this award for the second year running!

Kerr had to beat the likes of Beth Mead, Kim Little, Dagny Brynjarsdottir and fellow Chelsea player Millie Bright.

The Australian striker scored 40 goals in all competitions last year and is already on 23 this season, with plenty of games left.

With the season Beth Mead had last year and the summer she had it wasn’t surprising that she came in at a close second. Without her injury at the start of this season she may have gone one better.

It was the first time the Icelandic star has been nominated for this event and for the season she is having at West Ham it is very deserving. Scoring 8 goals in all competitions in a more defensive midfield position and assisting 5, sets an impressive standard for Dagny.

At the London Football Award there was also an award for the Young player of the year. Where Lauren James, Asmita Ale and Izzy Atkinson where all nominated.

It was Chelsea’s rising star, Lauren James.

In the last 365 days, Lauren James has really put herself out there and has got herself into Sarina Weigman’s England squad, and is hopeful to receive a World Cup spot in the summer.

The winger has scored 9 goals in all competitions and has 5 assists. The 21-year-old has become a constant starter under Emma Hayes this season and is constantly improving.

The Lionesses have won the new power of football award after taking home the UEFA Women’s Euro 22 trophy and inspiring a new generation to start playing football.

The last award was for the Manager of the year which consisted of all genders and Emma Hayes had a nomination. This is the first time a women’s manager has been nominated for this award.

Unfortunately for her, Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta brought that award home.
