With Chelsea on the verge of a third unbeaten WSL season in the last ten years and their fifth title in a row, they look to achieve something they have not before despite their dominance; The Women's Champions League.
For all of Chelsea's dominance in the WSL since Arsenal's last title win in 2018/2019, the one thing they have yet to do is also conquer Europe in this time. Chelsea have been running rampant in the WSL this season despite having lost their long tenured manager in Emma Hayes at the end of last season.
Sonia Bompastor would take over as the manager of the team afterwards. Bompastor was coming off the back of a very successful spell as Lyon's manager, having won seven trophies in just three seasons in the role.
Her haul includes the Division 1 Feminine in France three years in a row as well as a Champions League win over Barcelona in the 2022 final in just her first season as the 1st team's head coach.
Bompastor's side have been great on both sides of the ball with their defensive work leading to them only conceding 13 goals in the WSL. This has led to impressive performances, including shutting out Arsenal in a key 1-0 win over their London rivals.
Hannah Hampton has also impressed as she has kept nine clean sheets in the WSL; the third best in the league. Despite not having any clear out and out goal machines within their attack, they have been able to keep up with the best of the best through everyone getting involved in their attacking displays.
The last time a player scored a brace for them was in the group stage of the Women's Champions League where Macario scored two to get the win against Real Madrid.
Despite their lack of a clear goalscoring threat however, there is one thing this Chelsea team knows how to do and that is to win games. These types of seasons happen for great teams in any sport whether it is the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL or even when Arsenal went invincible in the 2003/2004 season.
This knowledge of how to win takes them to the Champions League semi final against the back to back winners of the competition in Barcelona. With a quadruple still open for this Chelsea team, who knows just how successful of a season this could end up being for Bompastor's Blues?
